Leading The Everest fancy recovers well from Memsie run.

A week at the beach beckons for The Everest second favourite I Wish I Win, who has recovered well from his first-up third placing in Saturday’s Group 1 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

Peter Moody on Monday morning released his stable update to his co-owners Waikato Stud after the five-year-old had been checked over by the vet.

The son of Savabeel chased gamely but was unable to reel in Mr Brightside, beaten just half a length, at what was his first run since the TJ Smith Stakes on April 1 and Moody has been happy with him since.

“He trotted up well, (he’s) in good order (and) ate well all weekend. He left a double handfuls of dipper of feed Saturday night, so he knew he’d had a run, but then he ate up last night.

“The vets trotted him up and flexed him up, so everything seems good.

“He’s just going to have a little jog on the treadmill this morning then he’ll go and have a lap of the pool and around mid-morning well shoot him down the beach and he can have the rest of the week down there.

“He seems to have come through the run in fine order. He seems happy and healthy, as you can see ears pricked, and in good order.”

Moody made no mention of another potential start for I Wish I Win before The Everest with the Pakenham trainer having previously mentioned that the 1400-metre Memsie Stakes could be his only run before the $20 million sprint at Randwick on October 14.
