The rain came down, the mile looked like 2000m yet the front-runner PELTZER (So You Think-Miss Otto) didn’t bat an eye lid as he simply torched his rivals to easily claim the $1million Bondi at Randwick.
He came out a half length behind them but Tim Clark sent him forward and he led the field comfortably.
And when he turned for home, Clark stayed hard up along the fence and he just dropped them, kicking away and going to the line untouched.
“Look, I think the rain probably played into his hands,” said Clark. “He just travelled so easily and he really is a nice colt going forward.”
Peltzer won by just on 3 lengths from PRIME STAR (Starspangledbanner-Barinka) who chased him home at their last starts also at Randwick in the Gr 2 Stan Fox. He got within half a length that day, today, however, he just couldn’t get near the winner at any stage.
REAL PEACE (Real Impact-Kirovskaya) flashed home to grab 3rd stamping himself a potential star in the Spring next year.
But Peltzer killed them.
“He’s a very good colt,” said co-trainer Gerald Ryan. “I think next winter he comes back an even better horse and I reckon the Gr 1 Stradbroke next year would be an absolutely perfect race for him but there are a lot of options for a 3YO who can run a strong mile.”
Ryan was cleared excited by his rising star who now has had 8 starts for 5 wins and $946,000 in prizemoney.
“Not many horses can win 5 from 8 and very few can win 4 at Randwick like he has done so he is a really classy colt.”
