South Australian Group 1 winner Queman has died after suffering complications from colic.
The Oakleigh Plate-winning sprinter was euthanised on Tuesday morning after his condition deteriorated despite veterinary treatment.
Trainer Shane Oxlade confirmed the news, describing the loss as “devastating” in comments reported by news.com.au.
Queman had been transferred to Morphettville’s Equine Clinic more than a week earlier after showing signs of colic.
The son of Mint Lane delivered Shane and Cassie Oxlade their first Group 1 success when he claimed the 2024 Oakleigh Plate at Caulfield.
Bred and raced by Francis “Boof” Smith and family, the seven-year-old gelding won more than $1 million in prizemoney across 10 career victories, including three at stakes level.
His final win came in the 2025 Group 3 Behemoth Stakes, scoring first-up after a 69-week injury-enforced layoff.
