Lindsay Park has confirmed that star galloper Mr Brightside will not contest the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday.
The multiple Group 1 champion, who secured second place in the All-Star Mile last start, now has two potential paths ahead—either targeting next month’s Group 1 All-Aged Stakes or heading straight to Hong Kong for the prestigious Group 1 Champions Mile.
Mr Brightside has made a full recovery after suffering a bruised heel following his All-Star Mile run.
Co-trainer Will Hayes stated that a final decision regarding the gelding’s next race would be made during Lindsay Park’s regular strategy meeting on Monday.
“Our campaign is probably going to be set between two races, we’re going to have a look at the All-Aged Stakes or we’re going to go straight to Hong Kong,” Hayes said.
“That’s the logical path (Hong Kong) we’re going to plan back from on Monday, given we are happy with how he’s now pulled up after the run.”
