Dual acceptor Malaboom will make the trip to Melbourne for a race at Moonee Valley.

Goulburn trainer Matthew Dale will give filly Malaboom some more experience racing left-handed when she heads to Moonee Valley.

Malaboom was an acceptor in two races on Saturday – the ATC Thank You Trainers Handicap (1100m) at Randwick and the Opus Group Handicap (1000m) at Moonee Valley.

Already a winner at Listed level in Brisbane earlier in the year, Dale has the Group 3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield in mind for Malaboom after she runs at The Valley on Saturday.

Resuming from a spell, Malaboom finished third to Outback Miss at Caulfield on June 24.

“My line of thinking is running her on Saturday and then three weeks into the Quezette at Caulfield,” Dale said.

“That’s why we gave her that little bit of a freshen up between Caulfield and now with a trial in-between at Moruya to have a look at her in the blinkers.

“She wears the blinkers for the first time on Saturday.

“We put her in both Melbourne and Sydney and wanted to assess barrier draws and the fields.

“The further we looked into it, Moonee Valley was the go, and it appears a number of the key chances in her race are coming out.”

Dale pointed out that Shaken had already been scratched, adding that it appears Outback Miss will be Adelaide bound and Estriella is running up in Sydney.

“She’s also well-weighted against her own sex where she had 59 kilos as against 58-½ kilos against the boys at Randwick, so that told us where we’re going,” Dale said.

“It also gives her a bit more experience left-handed before she runs again at Caulfield.

“She was a little bit green there at Caulfield last start, so we think the blinkers will help with that, and we’re looking forward to coming down.”
