Peter Moody will be honoured with one of racing’s top accolades, joining jockey Zac Purton and broadcaster Johnny Tapp as 2024 Australian Racing Hall of Fame inductees.
The trio will be celebrated at a ceremony in Queensland on August 31, which will also feature the Australian Racehorse of the Year awards.
Moody, born in Queensland, is best known for training unbeaten sprint queen Black Caviar, alongside stars like Typhoon Tracy and Incentivise.
Coffs Harbour-raised Purton has dominated racing in Hong Kong, securing seven premierships since his first major success in Brisbane in 2002/03.
Tapp, already an OAM recipient, is being inducted in the Associate category after more than 60 years in racing, including 33 as a renowned racecaller.
Two equine legends, Hydrogen and Mahogany, will also enter the Hall.
Chairman Jason Scott said the calibre of this year’s inductees was “nothing short of remarkable”.
An announcement on who will be named a “legend” is expected next week.
