Legendary racehorse Makybe Diva is set to make a grand return to Flemington on September 16, marking her first appearance in front of fans since her historic triple Melbourne Cup win in 2005.
This visit is not just a nostalgic nod to her accomplishments; it also serves as part of the lead-up to the 20th anniversary of her first Melbourne Cup victory.
Makybe Diva’s appearance will coincide with the $750,000 Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes on Girl’s Day Out.
Makybe Diva, now 25-years-old, was last seen at Flemington in 2020, her parade was without fans due to Covid restrictions.
One of only five horses to have won the Melbourne Cup more than once, she clinched victories against formidable opponents like She’s Archie, Vinnie Roe, and On A Jeune, all under the skilled hands of champion jockey Glen Boss.
Originally trained by David Hall and later by Lee Freedman, Makybe Diva amassed an impressive career with 15 wins from 36 starts and $14.5 million in prize money.
Adding to the spectacle, her three Melbourne Cup trophies will be displayed near her iconic statue at Flemington.
