The Victorian Jockeys Association has sent out a message to all jockeys not to conduct interviews with media until a resolution over a pay dispute is settled.
The VJA wants to increase jockeys rate of $200 per ride although Racing Victoria has not supported the increase prompting the decision for a media ban for jockeys.
Our two apprentices received a note from VJA this morning instructing not to carry out any media – pre/post race etc until pay dispute settled. Not sure one group engaging in industrial action to the detriment of other parricipants is constructive/going to gain much support.
