Trainer Ciaron Maher is preparing Spywire for the Gold Coast Magic Millions 2YO Classic, but the colt has drawn an unfortunate barrier twelve for the $3 million race.
Despite the setback, Maher is pleased with Spywire’s condition following his recent Gold Coast win, making him the $5.50 second favourite at Ladbrokes.
“I would’ve liked a little bit closer in, but it is what it is,” said Maher, emphasizing Spywire’s excellent condition.
The colt’s Saturday run helped take the edge off, and Maher believes Spywire possesses the qualities of a top juvenile colt, describing him as strong and having a great action and a good attitude.
In addition to Spywire, Maher and David Eustace are entering filly Erno’s Cube, who drew a more favorable gate seven.
Maher expressed confidence in Erno’s Cube, anticipating improvement over her last run and her suitability for the 1200m distance.
Maher and Eustace have previously secured victory in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with Away Game in 2020 and Coolangatta in 2022.
