Topweight Lucky Hussler has produced a brilliant finish to win the Group One Toorak Handicap at Caulfield.
Stiff not to be in the finish of the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes, Lucky Hussler ($6) was given a trouble-free ride by Glen Boss on Saturday to leave his rivals without excuse in the $400,000 mile.
“When he gets clean air he’s got some amazing acceleration this horse,” Boss said.
Lucky Hussler settled one off the rails before Boss pushed his mount into the clear on the turn and the Darren Weir-trained sprinter-miler had the race won at the 200m.
It was left to Disposition ($5) to finish second with Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes winner Stratum Star ($8) taking the minor placing.
