The racing career of an impressive stakes winner from last Saturday, is over.
And connections couldn’t be happier.
The rising star called Clearly, who triumphed in the Listed Centaurea Stakes in Adelaide last Saturday, at just her 3rd start in Australia, has been retired to stud.
The decision ends a previous thought to take her to Brisbane for the Winter Carnival.
Clearly (Invincible Spirit-Concordia) was a dual hemisphere stakes horse having placed in both England and Germany at stakes level.
She was trained in Europe by champion mare Enable’s trainer John Gosden and has a superior pedigree.
While in Australia Archie Alexander trained her.
Her pedigree is wonderful and will be attractive both here and abroad. Her big half-brother is Polarisation the winner of the Gr 1 Sydney Cup, and her mother is a half-sister to the former European Champion and multiple Gr 1 winning 3YO Lammtarra.
Her grandmother is Snow Bride, herself the winner of England’s prestigious Gr 1 The Oaks.
Alexander would have loved to have kept her going into Brisbane as from a racing proposition she looked the goods. She had been thriving since coming to Australia after being purchased at the 2018 Arqana Breeding Stock sale for $650,000.
“Rarely does it work out as well as this that a European mare is brought here, wins Black Type and retires in peak physical shape,” explained Alexander.
“Normally mares are retired when their racing has gone off a bit or are injured. But this mare, has no injuries and she goes to stud in Australia now a really, really top broodmare prospect.”
Clearly beat Snogging and Indrabeel last Saturday taking her race card to 15 starts for 2 wins and 4 placings.
No stallion has been chosen for her yet.
