Caloundra trainer Stuart Kendrick can look forward to playing a major hand in the summer carnival after a double at Eagle Farm.
He won with rising star Tambo’s Mate and old warrior Tarzan who scored his 15th race victory on Saturday.
Tambo’s Mate has now won six of his 10 starts and is looming as a real chance in the black-type sprint races starting next month.
“I will have to sit down with the owners and work out exactly what we will do,” Kendrick said.
“But he is like a lot of horses he has started to mature as a four-year-old.”
“I think he should be up to the better horses now.”
Tarzan continues to amaze Kendrick, winning under 61.5kg in 56.6 seconds for the 1000m in an open handicap.
“What can you say. He is such a good 1000 metre horse and that was his 13th win at the distance,” Kendrick said.
“He went over $500,000 in prize money and I don’t think it has finished. The other thing is he has finally got back to Eagle Farm.
“He really is a big-track horse and that is why he goes so well on the big track at home on the Sunshine Coast.”
Tarzan, who was bred by Brisbane Racing Club chairman Neville Bell, will now head back to the Sunshine Coast for a $100,000 Open over 1000m on November 16.
“It is a quality with penalties and which should suit him otherwise who knows what he might get,” Kendrick said.
“His main goal this time will be the Magic Millions Snippets in January.”
Tarzan was the second leg of a winning double for jockey Luke Tarrant who is returning after being stood down because of a court appearance on drug charges in August.
Kendrick has been one of Tarrant’s top supporters and is willing to help the jockey turn his life around.
Tarrant has ridden six winners since returning two-and-a-half weeks ago.
