Boom colt Kementari could be set to take on Champion mare Winx in this weekends Group One Winx Stakes at Randwick.
Godolphin have opted to make Kementari a late nomination for the first Group One of the new season which would see their prized colt line-up against Champion mare Winx who will be looking to make it a 26th consecutive win.
Initial thoughts would be that this is an interesting decision although it could prove to be a very lucrative move for the breeding operation.
Kementari was arguably unlucky not to win first up in the Missile Stakes running second to Pierata and will go into the Winx Stakes with a fitness edge over what could be a vulnerable Winx.
Winx who was recently crowned the best in the world once again will not be at full fitness this weekend with her long term goal a fourth Cox Plate and if Kementari can upset the Champion mare his price tag will surge whilst a defeat will unlikely hurt his value having already suffered defeat to the mighty mare in the George Ryder Stakes earlier this year.
It sounds weird saying it is a good idea for any horse to take on Winx, but doing so this weekend could be a wise bet for Godolphin.
