Back in form sprinter Kallos will be out to out to his record at Caulfield

James CummingsĀ and Godolphin are looking at winning form to hold KallosĀ in good stead when he returns to stakesĀ levelĀ at Caulfield.

Kallos runs in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint (1000m) on Saturday and is looking for back-to-back wins after a return to form atĀ Warwick Farm in a Benchmark 92 race on October 3.

Just over 12 months ago, Kallos won a Hawkesbury maiden over 1100m before going on toĀ claimĀ the Group 2Ā DanehillĀ Stakes (1100m) at Flemington at his next start.

Kallos then went on to tackle the best three-year-old sprintersĀ in AustraliaĀ in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, finishing 14thĀ behind Home Affairs.

After one start in the autumn, Kallos was again given a break before returning in late winter to finish third in the Listed Lightning Stakes (1050m) at Morphettville inĀ July before finishing last in the Listed Chautauqua Stakes (1200m) at Moonee Valley in early September.

Cummings took Kallos back to Sydney in a bid to revitaliseĀ the entireĀ which worked with theĀ four-year-oldĀ scoring a strong victory.

Under the handicap conditions on Saturday and withĀ Jamie KahĀ in the saddle, Cummings can see no reason why Kallos cannot make it back-to-back victories.

“He’s back in winning form,” Cummings said.

“He’s trained in superior fashion between runs and has the look of a winner about him.

“He can run another very good race in this handicap, he’s well-suited and can come from off the speed.

“It’s been good to get the assumption out of everyone’s minds that the horse needs to lead.Ā He can have a niceĀ run inĀ transit, hit the line well,Ā andĀ handle the wet ground with no trouble.”

Kallos is an $8.50 chance with TAB to continue Godolphin’s good run at the Caulfield Cup Carnival in which Sydney raider Dragonstone is the $3.10 favourite.
