Jacqui’s Joy has given fledgling trainer Mitchell Beer his first metropolitan winner at Caulfield.
Beer, who trains in partnership with Max Hinton, has held his licence less than a month and says the win is a dream come true.

Ridden by Patrick Moloney, Jacqui’s Joy ($5.50) took out the Schweppes Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday to give Beer victory with his first Saturday metropolitan runner.
“I’ve been dreaming of this since I was two-years-old,” Beer said.
Now the 27-year-old Beer has his first city success out of the way his next plan is to look for a black type win.
He said Jacqui’s Joy may now be put away for a short break with a view to contesting the better fillies staying races in Adelaide and Queensland.
“We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves but whether we back off her a little now and maybe head towards an SA Oaks or a Queensland Oaks,” Beer said.
“They’re big dreams, but so was today.”
Beer first took notice of the filly when he was watching New Zealand races on television and she came second on a heavy track at Rotorua in April.
“I can’t thank the owners enough,” Beer said.
“She was running around in New Zealand in average maidens. I went to them and said we need to put some money together and they didn’t hesitate.”
