Trainer Peter Moody is adopting a cautious approach as he prepares Invincible Caviar, the daughter of legendary mare Black Caviar, for her potential black-type debut in the Listed Bel Esprit Stakes (1000m) at Sandown.
Moody, speaking with Racing.com, sees the race as an opportunity rather than a primary target.
He emphasised that the decision to run will depend on track conditions, with a preference for a Soft 5 or 6 surface.
Moody stressed that he doesn’t want to expose Invincible Caviar to unfavourable conditions, stating, “I’m not going to feed her to the wolves.”
While aiming to secure black-type recognition, Moody acknowledged that Invincible Caviar is still a restricted-class mare.
Jockey Linda Meech has been selected to ride the four-year-old, who has won four of her six career starts.
Invincible Caviar is currently priced as the second-elect at $4.00, with Katsu as the race favorite at $1.85, according to Ladbrokes.
