It was exclusively mentioned here last week that the emerging force known as Australian Bloodstock had one in Europe they were hoping to bring Down Under for this year’s Cox Plate.
Well, he had to do a couple of things first, chief among them was to win a Gr 1…which he did rather spectacularly on the weekend.
His name is DANCETERIA (Redoute’s Choice-Bal De La Rose) and he not only earned himself a trip to Australia for the upcoming Gr 1 Cox Plate in October, but gave his sire an all important initial international Gr 1 win by rushing hard late under Jamie Spencer to win the $250,000 Grosser Dallmayr Preis over 2000m in Germany.
He sat back 6th most of the way in a solidly run race and just outsprinted all his rivals down the running.
It was his 7th win from just 16 starts and he looks very handy.
Importantly, his mother, herself a multiple stakes winner, has been a good producer with 7 to race for 5 winners including the stakes winner Blossomtime in Paris.
Danceteria is now the best of the breed.
The win was so impressive it prompted his rider, Spencer to say: “It was so easy, I do not know what I was paid for today.”
Jamie Lovett, the spokesman for Australian Bloodstock said, “Australian Bloodstock bought a majority stake in Danceteria after his first-up victory in the Listed Prix Jacques Laffitte (1800m) at Maisons-Laffitte on April 10.
“He then ran third in the £70,000 ($128,000) Gr 3 Brigadier Gerard Stakes (2000m) at Sandown on May 23 before winning the Gr 3 La Coupe (2000m) in Paris at Longchamp on June 10.”
He made every sit up and take notice of him when 4th behind Enable in the Gr 1 Eclipse (2002m) at Sandown (UK) on July 6.
Lovett says Danceteria could have one more run in Europe – the €1,250,000 (A$2m) Gr 1 QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes (2000m) at Leopardstown on Saturday, September 14 – before coming to Australia.
Australian Bloodstock will bring an Irish galloper Down Under too aiming at the Gr 2 Lexus Stakes and possibly a 2019 Melbourne Cup run.
His name is ROCKABILL (Fastnet Rock-Tebee). He’s yet to win any Black Type from his 12 starts but has staying talent and has been bought out of Gr 1 Melbourne Cup winner Joseph O’Brien’s yard.
His family is littered with stars and he will be trained in Australia by Kris Lees.
Rockabill, who has won twice (over 2000m and 2300m) and been placed four times, arrives in Australia in September.
