Imperatriz, a multiple Group One winner, is setting her sights across the Tasman Sea with a highly optimistic outlook.
After a strong showing at the recent Taupo trials, where she closed a winning margin to just two lengths behind Our Alley Cat, her team is buzzing with enthusiasm.
Sam Bergerson, who trains Imperatriz in partnership with Mark Walker, was buoyant about her performance.
“Opie was really happy with her,” Bergerson told LoveRacing.nz.
“She hit the line well, had another good blow, and she is on track to kick-off on the 9th of September in Melbourne in the McEwen Stakes (1000m).”
Adding fuel to this excitement, Bergerson reported positive changes in Imperatriz’s form.
“We think she has strengthened up. Going on her trackwork, she has definitely improved,” he stated.
These improvements, along with glowing feedback from jockey Opie Bosson, bode well for the horse’s upcoming races in Melbourne.
“The feedback from Opie has been nothing but positive. At this stage of the prep, we are really happy with her, and we are looking forward to getting her over there,” said Bergerson.
Imperatriz will be racing out of Te Akau’s newly established Cranbourne barn, and her team is eagerly awaiting her Melbourne debut.
