The nominations for the Hotham Handicap (Lexus Stakes) at Flemington this weekend have been taken with almost all of the horses in the race still in contention for the 2019 Melbourne Cup.
Based on the current Melbourne Cup order it is likely that both Vow And Declare and Youngstar will be non acceptors in the race with their spots all but secured leaving the remaining horses in the Hotham Handicap to try and book the last remaining spot in the Melbourne Cup field.
The most interesting decision will be regarding Neufbosc who is bordline in the field. Connections will likely make a decision to take the risk and not run the horse in the race in hope they gain an automatic spot in the Cup without doing so.
