Coolmore Stud’s freshman sire Home Affairs celebrated a major milestone at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale, with a filly out of Group 2-winning mare Champagne Cuddles selling for $1.05 million. Purchased by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Lot 256 is the first seven-figure yearling for the dual Group 1-winning sprinter.
“She’s a very striking filly,” Bott said. “We see a lot of similar characteristics to her mother, who was obviously a top-class racehorse. We’ve got the first foal in the stable as well, and she’s been quite precocious and has given us some good indications early.”
Home Affairs impressed as the most-represented sire at the sale, with 17 yearlings averaging over $350,000. Waterhouse and Bott also secured a Zoustar colt ($800,000) and a Snitzel colt ($650,000), reinforcing their strategy of targeting precocious, high-quality yearlings. “He’s [Home Affairs] thrown some beautiful types and they look strong individuals,” Bott noted.
