Tony Gollan hopes to have a Sydney venture confirmed soon as he starts what he believes will be his busiest season yet.

Gollan won his third Brisbane trainer’s premiership with 87-1/2 winners which smashed the record of 79 he set the previous season.

He also won the state title with 107 winners which was the first time he had passed the century in a season.

“Any season where you train more winners than the past season is a good one,” Gollan said.

“It is a credit to all of my staff and we have had our problems training at Eagle Farm during the redevelopment.

“It is only going to get better when all the in-field stabling is complete.

“But this season is over so I will front up to Doomben on Wednesday ready to defend the title. It is going to be a very busy year.”

Gollan makes no secret of wanting to be the first trainer to pass 100 winners in a Brisbane season and to reach 150 in the state.

“It is all about getting the right things in place and then the winners should follow,” he said.

He will have another full stable in Brisbane but he is in line for 30 boxes at Rosehill which are to be vacated by Michael Freedman when he shifts his stables to Randwick.

Gollan isn’t counting his luck before it happens but he is confident he will have a Sydney presence this season.

“Everything is going along and I am hopeful it will work out,” he said.

Gollan has been campaigning in Sydney with Dee Nine Elle who has a win and two close seconds from three starts.

“It shows we have competitive horses and can compete there,” he said.

Gollan also won the Ipswich trainers’s premiership while Toby Edmonds won the Gold Coast title.

Stuart Kendrick was the leading Caloundra trainer and Toby Sears retained his Toowoomba championship.
