Itโs probably fair to say that never in the storied history of Australian racing has one owner held so many juvenile cards in the same year than the Godolphin – the Blue Army – do this year.
We know they have for many years now been active in the baby ranks but nothing they have done compares to this season.
In fact the Godolphin team, who remember claimed last yearโs Melbourne Cup too, look like taking out ALL three of the plum juvenile races.
And with, amazingly, three different horses!
They already own the first leg, the Magic Millions 2YO Classic via their exciting EXHILARATES (Snitzel-Samaready) who cost them $600,000 at the Magic Millions Yearling sale last year.
She has already won them $1,313,750.
But as we ready ourselves for the upcoming Gr 1 Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield, Godolphin own not just the likely winner, but the likely quinella too.
Their homebred LYRE (Lonhro-Erato) will finish like a train and should finish alongside ATHIRI (Lonhro-Retsina) – in the top 2 placings.
It’s immaterial as to which one wins for them, but I think Athiri probably gets up in the last bound.
Then we move all of them to the $3 million Gr 1 Golden Slipper where they will face the awesome presence of yet another Godolphin homebred in TASSORT (Brazen Beau-Essaouira).
In what looks like a cracking year of two-year-olds, he stands – even though he has had just one start – head and shoulders above the rest.
Just looking at the Godolphin horse power, they might even go 1, 2, 3 and 4th in the 2019 Golden Slipper.
And keep in mind too, on their reserves bench sit, the brilliant KIAMICHI (Sidestep-Ouachita) who crushed Exhilarates when they met, BIVOUAC (Exceed and Excel-Dazzler) who won a stakes race for them last week,
AMERCEMENT (Lonhro-Forfeiture) another easy stakes winner, plus the impressive placegetters LANIGERA and AVON RIVER.
