Globe is set to have a track gallop at The Valley ahead of his first-up run in the Feehan Stakes

Trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr will give Globe the benefit of some added experience at Moonee Valley ahead of his first-up run.

Globe is set to resume in the Group 2 Feehan Stakes (1600m) on Saturday as he looks to build on his unbeaten four start career.

The five-year-old son of Charm Spirit has not been sighted since winning over 1800m at Sandown on May 6 after beginning his career at Pakenham with a maiden win in March.

Globe galloped at Moonee Valley two weeks ago as part of his preparation for the Feehan and will return to the track on Tuesday morning where he will gallop under race jockey Jamie Kah.

“Globe is going to sit off one at Moonee Valley over 1200 metres for a nice gallop on Tuesday morning and then he’ll turn up in the Feehan,” Price said.

After his gallop at The Valley two weeks ago, Globe had a 1200m jump-out at Cranbourne last week, strolling home to an easy win.

Price said taking Globe back to The Valley on Tuesday was in a bid to get the gelding to relax, especially on race day.

“I don’t need him sparked up. He’s a very sparky horse,” Price said.

“He comes out each morning with his boxing gloves on.

“I need him to get a bit familiar with Moonee Valley as from the mile there, there are three corners.”

Price said narrow first-up winner Charm Stone would also gallop at Moonee Valley on Tuesday morning ahead of the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes (1200m) on Saturday.

While Charm Stone is set to run on Saturday, unbeaten sprinter What You Need will bypass the Group 2 McEwen Stakes (1000m) and a meeting with Giga to instead line-up the following week at Flemington.

Price said the Group 2 Bobbie Lewis Stakes (1200m) was a better race for What You Need to start his campaign with the hope of securing a slot in The Everest (1200m) at Randwick next month.

“He’s going down the straight in the 1200-metre Bobbie Lewis where he’s won two 1100-metre races,” Price said.

“We just thought around The Valley there would too much pressure, so we thought we would avoid The Valley and Giga Kick as well.

“He’s also likes the straight at Flemington.”

If What You Need, who is unbeaten in three starts to date, does not gain an Everest berth, Price said the four-year-old would be aimed at the Group 1 Manikato Stakes (1200m) and the Group 1 Champions Sprint (1200m) at Flemington.

“If we try and win the Manikato and the Champions Sprint, that will be better for him when he goes off to stud,” Price said.
