James Harron has used his The Everest nomination to get the former Singapore superstar THE INFERNO (Holy Roman Emperor – Spina Rosa) into the big race following his stunning Gr 1 effort last night.
“I’m delighted to team up with Glenn Whittenbury and set The Everest alight with The Inferno,” Harron wrote on social media this morning.
Whittenbury owns The Inferno, winner of 9 races and 2 placings from just 12 starts. He’s earned $1,320,555 in prize money thus far.
And, after an outstanding Gr 2 win over 1000m where he ran down the flying Portland Sky at The Valley, he backed up last night to run 2nd, coming from last of 11 on the bend, in the Gr 1 Moir Stakes over 1000m.
He failed to catch Wild Ruler by a half head but the performance just screamed: PUT ME IN A 1200m RACE.
The $15million The Everest at Randwick is 1200m.
Previous to his narrow win, Wild Ruler had run 2nd to Nature Strip in the Concorde Stakes so the form lines are stacking up for The Inferno. In 3rd spot last night was Trekking for instance, and Trekking ran 3rd in The Everest last year.
Cliff Brown trains The Inferno who is going to attract enormous interest as he has won up to 1600m.
