At Ipswich this afternoon old Mark Goodwin saddled his first runner as a trainer in nearly five years.
And it saluted paying $43.95.
Named INSIDE INFORMATION (Mahisara-Chinese Wall) it seems none of us had that, but the happy trainer backed him.
“I had a little bit on,” he smiled.
Goodwin hasn’t been a trainer since 2016. His last runner was in the Queensland bush at Talwood. It was unplaced and 2016 was also the last time he trained a winner when a horse called Screaming Jet.
“I was in the sin bin for a while then was a strapper when I could get a licence but when I moved to Toowoomba a little while back I thought I’d give it a go again.”
Inside Information is the only horse he trains.
After being well back to the turn, he unleashed a powerful burst down the centre of the track to win running away for Michael Cahill.
It was his 11th start and first win.
“He’d been a bit unlucky a few times prior to this so I was glad to see him get some clear running today,” said the revitalized trainer.
