Favourite scratched from Tramway Stakes

Tramway Stakes favourite Pierata has been withdrawn from the Group Two race after failing a veterinary inspection.

Racing NSW chief veterinary officer, Dr Toby Koenig, has examined the horse on Friday and found him to have swelling and heat in his off foreleg cannon region.

Koenig recommended he be withdrawn from Saturday’s Tramway (1400m).

Trainer Greg Hickman has been advised Pierata will need a vet clearance before he races again.

The Kris Lees-trained triple Group One winner Le Romain is now the $3.20 Tramway favourite with the TAB ahead of Tom Melbourne who is at $6.50.
