Exciting country mare News Girl has suffered a serious tendon injury which has ruled her out of this years The Kosciuszko.
The Geoff Duryea trained mare suffered a tendon injury in training and will undergo surgery to repair the injury ruling her out of the Spring carnival.
News Girl raced into favouritism for the The Kosciuszko after her impressive win at Caulfield in May.
Connections will persevere with the 5YO’s racing career in hope she can return during the Autumn or Spring next year, ruling out retiring her to the breeding barn at this point.
Her younger brother Front Page remains in contention for the race in which the TAB has him as the equal $5 favourite.
