Exciting colt Angel Capital moved to Waller stables

Highly touted colt Angel Capital will continue his racing journey under the guidance of champion trainer Chris Waller.

The talented three-year-old, recently acquired by Yulong Investments following an impressive first-up win in the Group 2 Autumn Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, has been transferred from Clinton McDonald’s stable to Waller’s operation. McDonald confirmed on Monday that the decision was made by the new ownership group.

Angel Capital was the leading contender for the Australian Guineas but was withdrawn on race morning due to mucus detected in a routine scope.

“I wish Yulong all the success with Angel Capital, and I have no doubt he’s destined to be a Group 1 winner,” McDonald said.

“It was a tough pill to swallow on Saturday because I was incredibly confident he would take out the Guineas. But I have no doubt he’ll get that Group 1, whether it’s this prep or when he returns in the spring as a four-year-old and really stamps himself as a top-class horse.

“He’s the type that could be freshened up and targeted at a race like the William Reid Stakes, the Goodwood in Adelaide, or even a major Group 1 in Sydney.”

Angel Capital heads to Waller’s stable with an impressive record of four wins from seven starts, including three at Stakes level, and remains an exciting prospect for the future.
