The Doomben 10 000 meeting has now officially been switched to Eagle Farm.
The Racing Queensland Press Release reads:
‘Racing Queensland confirms that following recent inclement weather and a forecast for a continuation of heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours, the Brisbane Racing Club race meeting at Doomben on Saturday, May 14, has been transferred to Eagle Farm.
The decision to transfer the meeting was made following the determination that there is very little likelihood that the racing surface at Doomben will recover sufficiently in time for Saturday’s race meeting to proceed at that venue.
The timing of the decision has not only factored in the poor weather outlook, but will also provide Brisbane Racing Club with sufficient time to make the logistical arrangements for the meeting’s transfer.
The transfer to Eagle Farm has necessitated changes to race distances and as a consequence of the fact that the rail position will be at seven metres, the starting limits for some of the races on the program have also been amended.
The updated detail is:
TAB Doomben 10,000 – distance unchanged at 1200m & starting limit is unchanged at 16;
Spirit Of Boom Classic – distance unchanged at 1200m & starting limit is unchanged at 16;
Rough Habit Plate – was 2000m, is now 2143m & starting limit has changed to 14;
Chairman’s Handicap – was 2000m, is now 2143m & starting limit has changed to 14;
Magic Millions Bright Shadow – was 1110m, is now 1200m and starting limit is unchanged at 16;
Members’ Handicap – distance unchanged at 1600m & starting limit was 16 but is now 17;
3yo Plate – distance was 1350m, is now 1400m & starting limit is unchanged at 16;
Benchmark 85 Handicap – distance was 1350m, is now 1400m & starting limit is unchanged at 16; and Class 6 Plate – distance was 1050m, is now 1000m & starting limit has changed to 12.
In accordance with earlier communications the acceptance deadline for the race meeting will now be 11:00am.
There will be no fees charged for horses withdrawn at this race meeting following its venue transfer.’
