Rising star Pivot City will put his Coolmore Stud Stakes credentials on the line as he competes in the Poseidon Stakes at Flemington this Saturday.
The colt, trained by Mick Price and Michael Kent Jr, displayed exceptional talent with a dominant win at his sole start in Bendigo last month.
However, his journey to the racetrack has been arduous, marred by injuries including a broken splint bone and a micro-fracture in one shoulder.
Despite the setbacks, Pivot City has been trained more lightly than his three-year-old peers but is anticipated to give a strong performance this weekend.
The Poseidon Stakes serves as a pivotal testing ground for November’s Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes, also at Flemington.
With recent Poseidon winners like Buenos Noches and Ranch Hand performing well in the Coolmore, Price is optimistic that Pivot City is up to the task.
Jockey Ethan Brown has been booked to ride the colt in Saturday’s $175,000 contest.
