Randwick trainer John O’Shea took the wraps off a potential star juvenile at Rosehill on Saturday when his unraced filly ROBODIRA (Husson-Don’t Blink) brilliantly won.
And she did it the tough way too.
She had to firstly overcome the horror heatwave of 40 degrees, not ideal on debut – then had to sit behind the Godolphin filly SLIDERS (Street Boss-Glissade) who prior to this was unbeaten.
Her run was tip top too as she tried to lead all the way but found this newcomer just too strong late in the peace.
Back in 3rd spot was HUNNAM (Shalaa-Skating On Ice) was joint fav for the race with the runner-up.
The filly’s win capped off a pretty handy thirty minutes for the O’Shea stable who saddled the easy winner of the first at Kembla today, BROOK’S BATTLE (Hinchinbrook-Andromache) just 20mins earlier.
He also saddled MR GEE to win race 2 at Kembla! Clearly O’Shea likes the heat.
But his 2YO Robodira was the stable star.
She’s owned by friends of O’Shea in Finemore Thoroughbreds and Planette Thoroughbreds.,
She cost them just $22,000 as a yearling so they are already well and truly out of her. First place today, with the promise of a LOT more to come, was $58,000.
They came home in long intervals with the excessive heat playing havoc with some runners.
Not the winner, who racing analyst, Ron Dufficy, described as highly professional.
Brenton Avdulla rode the 2YO winner who ran 1.05.03.
