The esteemed star galloper and stallion, Magnus, has passed, leaving the racing community in mourning.
Widden Stud reported the loss of this Australian turf warrior, who succumbed to age-related issues at 21.
A renowned son of Flying Spur, Magnus secured the Group 1 Galaxy and brought acclaim to connections with distinguished placings at Royal Ascot and Kranji.
With 525 winners under his belt and a commendable 72% winners to runners, Magnus marked an enduring legacy at stud, generating four Group 1 winners and 17 million-dollar earners.
“Magnus took us around the world,” conveyed a sorrowful Robert Crabtree, breeder and owner, highlighting Magnus’s global impact and irreplaceable presence in the lives connected to him.
Phil Marshall of Widden Victoria reminisced, “Magnus was a gem, a real characterโฆ The Victorian breeding industry has lost a star.”
Magnus will find his resting place beside his dam, Scandinavia, at Dorrington Farm in Nagambie, where his remarkable journey and significant contributions to the racing world will be remembered with gratitude and respect.
