Cox Plate heroine Via Sistina headlines a glittering line-up of stars set to trial in Sydney next week as spring preparations begin to ramp up across both New South Wales and Victoria.
The Chris Waller-trained mare will feature in the opening 850-metre heat on Randwick’s Kensington track on Tuesday, joined by high-profile stablemates Fangirl and American import Full Count Felicia.
Waller has also stacked the second trial with quality, including his ATC Derby winner Aeliana, undefeated filly Autumn Glow, and Golden Slipper runner-up Wodeton, all of whom are on track for early season Group 1 campaigns.
James Cummings will unleash a strong Godolphin contingent, headlined by Tom Kitten, Zardozi, and Pericles, all of whom could be making their final trial appearances for the stable.
With Cummings confirmed to step out under his own name ahead of a Hong Kong move in 2026, the trio is set to be transferred to new trainers at the season’s end — Tom Kitten to Anthony and Sam Freedman, Zardozi to Ciaron Maher, and Pericles to Bjorn Baker.
Several triallers are expected to kick off their campaigns in either the Group 1 P.B. Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on August 16 or the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on August 23.
