Champion jockey Kerrin McEvoy has been sidelined after suffering a foot injury during trials at Randwick Racecourse on Thursday.
McEvoy was injured in the barriers at the start of heat two while aboard Lazzura, with subsequent X-rays confirming two broken bones in his left foot. As a result, the multiple Group 1-winning rider has been forced to forfeit all upcoming rides, including engagements on the Beaumont today, at Canterbury Park on Friday night, and at the Magic Millions meeting on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Further updates regarding McEvoy’s recovery timeline and return to riding are expected in the coming days.
