John and Tom Sadler are looking for an improved showing from Adele Amour when she steps out at Caulfield

Trainer John Sadler and his son Tom will get a definitive answer as to whether Adele Amour is an Oaks filly when she runs at Caulfield.

Adele Amour runs in the Group 3 Ethereal Stakes (2000m) on Saturday in a bid to turn around her form from a disappointing last start effort at Flemington.

After winning at Sandown, Adele Amour lowered her colours to Barb Raider at that track at her next outing, with El Patroness finishing in third place on each occasion.

El Patroness won the Listed Super Impose Stakes (1800m) at Flemington October 2 and on the strength of that win Adele Amour was heavily supported later in the program but wound up in fifth position.

Currently the assistant-trainer to his father while awaiting the paperwork to be stamped so they can join forces in a training partnership, Tom Sadler said they were terribly disappointing with the filly’s effort.

“She just didn’t give a kick,” Tom Sadler said.

“She led, didn’t go that hard after having to do a little work to get across, but she was disappointing in the run home.

“We really feel that she will stay, and she had some really good form around her through Barb Raider and El Patroness and when El Patroness won, we were probably even more confident.

“But I suppose when you do try to make all, you do have a bit on excuse doing all the donkey work for everything else.

“I think we’ll have a pretty definitive answer after Saturday when we ride her a bit quieter, not necessarily dragging her out the back, but letting her find her feet a bit more.”

Sadler said the Group 1 Kennedy Oaks (2500m) at Flemington on November 4 had been a long-term aim for the filly.

He said the filly was by Sebring, with his stock “sticking on a bit” while Adele Amour is from Divine Rebel, a dual runner-up in the Sydney Cup.
