Buffalo River, a much liked racehorse, has been retired at age nine following an impressive career.
The Moroney galloper had 60 starts, securing nine wins, nine seconds, and nine thirds, amassing over $1.48 million in earnings.
Known for his durability, “Buffy” leaves behind a legacy of remarkable achievements, including wins in the 2023 Group 3 Moonga Stakes and the 2021 Caulfield 1400m feature.
Trainer Michael Moroney expressed pride in Buffalo River’s longevity, noting, “He has done a great job for us and it has been a long time since I have trained a sounder horse.”
Despite recent challenges in placing him in races, the horse maintained his competitive spirit, finishing strong in his final run at Flemington.
Buffalo Riverβs next chapter will see him under the care of Celine Gaudray, who had shared success with him in the past.
The stables are thankful for his remarkable journey and wish him well in his new career.
