Holy Flying F… Batman. Fetch the firemen. This field is on fire.”
That’s Robin talking about the Provincial Championship Qualifier worth $150,000 today at Wyong. It’s race 8 on the card at 6:05pm.
And the only two F – word horses in the race look like fighting it out.
Which is strange in itself, but perhaps not when you consider their trainers are Kris Lees and Kim Waugh, the two most successful provincial trainers in the Provincial Champs history.
But what makes this phalanx of F alliteration horses so different is that this pair….are brothers!
Fuchu and Fuji Fury are their names and they are siblings of former Gr 1 winner Yosei (who won the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes as a 2YO).
Both Fuchu and Fuji Fury have completely different sets of connections but both share the same mother – Fuji Fairy.
Fuji Fairy has had six foals to race for five winners – Yosei winning $1.2million, Imoto winning $191,106, and Fu Jak earning $70,000
As for this familiar familial pair, the youngest is the unbeaten Fuji Fury, who cost $160,000 as a yearling. He’s three from three thus far and the winner of $56,000.
Fuchu, who is a year older at 4 years of age, has won four races and funded his connections with $108,165.
Both like to settle off the pace and there is every chance the brothers will be next to one another during the run…and presumably will make their runs together.
Fuchu is trained at Wyong and looks the better of the two….so perhaps finishes first, in front of his his fellow Fuji Fairy family friend.
That’s as good and as clean as I can get with my F-word attack on this big fu…. race today.
