Jockey Blaike McDougall has received a clean bill of health from his doctors and is set to make a return to trackwork this week.
The 29-year-old jockey had been sidelined for the past four months following a race fall at Geelong in late March, where he sustained a C7 vertebrae fracture.
Initially expected to make a quicker recovery, McDougall’s injury took longer to heal than anticipated.
However, his dedication to rehabilitation, including wearing a hard and soft collar, has paid off, and doctors have now given him the green light to resume his race riding career.
During his time on the sidelines, McDougall continued to contribute to the racing community by mentoring apprentice riders at Racing Victoria.
With his fracture fully healed, McDougall will now focus on building his fitness through trackwork and jumpouts in preparation for the upcoming new season.
Prior to his injury, McDougall had an impressive record of 92 winners, and fans eagerly await his return to the saddle.
