Bella Nipotina is set to shadow Imperatriz’s racing schedule, as connections of the Group 1 sprinter are eager to challenge the acclaimed New Zealand star.
The two have clashed before, with Bella Nipotina finishing second to Imperatriz in March’s Group 1 William Reid Stakes and placing fifth in last month’s Champions Sprint.
Michael Christian, Bella Nipotina’s breeder and part-owner, has confirmed plans to enter the mare in the Black Caviar Lightning in February, a race also expected to feature Imperatriz.
Following a successful season, including a win over Everest champion Think About It, Christian is confident in Bella Nipotina’s continued top-level performance.
The six-year-old’s itinerary includes the Black Caviar Lightning, William Reid Stakes, and the TJ Smith Stakes in Sydney.
Christian eagerly anticipates a rematch with Imperatriz, expressing respect but noting Bella Nipotina’s unfortunate positioning in the Champions Sprint.
