Grahame Begg hopes to see two of his lightly raced brigade back in action at Flemington

Trainer Grahame Begg is looking forward to the return run of smart filly Dosh up the straight at Flemington but is already looking further into the spring.

Dosh will resume in the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1100m) at Flemington on Saturday with the trainer already thinking of a weight-for-age contest for the filly.

Begg has pencilled in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes (1100m) at Caulfield on October 9 as potentially a suitable assignment.

Dosh has raced only twice, registering a win in the Ottowa Stakes (1000m) at Flemington last November before returning to claim the Blue Diamond Preview (1000m) at Caulfield in January.

The filly was then a leading fancy for the Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) the following month but was withdrawn on race-eve with a bruised heel.

Begg said the filly was in top shape for Saturday’s return, but if he had one wish, it was that the race was over 1000m instead of 1100m.

“She’s had two jump-outs, the last one a very fast one at Caulfield last Tuesday morning,” Begg said.

“It won’t be an easy race as there’s some nice fillies in it, but she’s in good shape.

“After that I might keep her a bit fresh and aim her for the Schillaci with no weight.”

Begg is also hoping to see Butter Chicken go around in the Group 2 Let’s Elope Stakes (1400m) but is fearful the mare may miss out due to her rating.

Butter Chicken has only raced three times for a win in a Pakenham maiden before running second in the Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m) at Caulfield in February.

“She’s only got a rating of 78 so it might be a bit low, but she’s coming along beautifully,” Begg said.

Butter Chicken won a trial at Cranbourne last week under Jordan Childs.

“She quickened nicely when Jordy asked her and then he just let her go through her gears without letting her off the bridle,” Begg said.
