Fangirl, Cascadian and Sheeza Belter sit atop a provisional emergency list for the upcoming $5 million All Star Mile, released by Racing Victoria on Wednesday. Should any of the 10 horses voted into the race be withdrawn, their spots will be filled by the emergency list. The list is based on the prizemoney (AUD, excluding bonuses) earned by horses running in races between 1200m and 2050m from 1 February, 2022 to 14 March, 2023.
Two stablemates of last year’s All Star Mile victor Zaaki – globetrotting Laws of Indices and Chipping Norton Stakes placegetter Mo’unga – are also prominent on the list, as is Elliptical and Chris Waller’s mare Hinged.
Five wildcards will be awarded by Racing Victoria in the coming week. These can be offered to horses on the emergency list or to those not amongst the original All Star Mile nominations. If a wildcard selection fails to accept their place, the panel have the discretion to offer it to another horse, rather than drawing from the emergency list.
