Races at Turffontein on Saturday night were delayed as scary scenes broke out across the racecourse after police opened fire on protesting stablehands.
Police opened fire with rubber bullets on Grooms (stablehands) who organised a protest during South Africa’s Turffontein races on Saturday night AEDT time.
Stablehands were protesting over pay during the race meeting which prompted the police to intervene, reports suggest the Grooms however disruptive were generally peaceful in their protests.
