Not a great day of race calling for Sydney’s Darren Flindell at Warwick Farm this afternoon.
After seeming to completely forget the first two runners in race 3 for a few hundred metres he recovered a bit and got through that race.
But his confidence must have been shaken because by race 7, those who backed Sunborn and who were listening to his call were on great terms with themselves.
Up towards the home turn then all the way down the stretch, Dazza called Sunborn out and in front and under a great Josh Parr ride was punched out to win from, etc, etc.
Only trouble was, it was Stormborn who was in front and leading all the way.
The real Sunborn finished near the rear.
Fortunately when the audio switched to Richard Haynes, he recognised the error immediately and said, the winner is number 12 Stormborn in the last.
The confused punters then looked at the horses coming back to scale and yes, saw that it was Stormborn.
Those on Hughie Bowman’s mount Sunborn were left lamenting.
