Punters have taken to social media to vent their anger after an odds-on favourite was mistakenly deemed the runner-up in a race at Kempton in the UK last Friday.
Oregon Gift jumped as the $1.91 favourite in Racing UK Profits Returned To Racing Handicap (2400m) and the judge was required to examine the photo after he hit the line in a close finish with Bird For Life.
Incredibly, after examining the photo the judge ruled $9.00 outsider Bird For Life the winner and the all-clear to payout was given.
It took almost a week for the BHA (British Horseracing Authority) to amend the result after punters raised concerns over the photo-finish on social media.
Understandably punters have been left reeling after a number of bookmakers have chosen not to pay out on the amended result.
The BHA say they’re looking at better technology to help prevent future errors.
