After race 7 at Lismore finished on Friday, a bloke got onto twitter and just attacked the rider.
Firing words like, “worst ride ever’, and ‘you prick’ followed by ‘no wonder the horse nearly had a heart attack, jockey Andrew Mallon who recently rode his 1000th winner, was shocked.
“I want my money back!!! You’re a shocking jockey. Jett Austin – you owe punters.”
He was referring to the fact Qld galloper Jett Austin, who is a natural front-runner and who was well backed to win race 7, did in fact lead but something went amiss and he finished tailed-off.
Mallyon copped it. Full barrel as most jockeys all seem to receive.
This one was particularly interesting because of the way Andrew Mallon dealt with it.
He sent two tweets back – one to the bogan punter, whose real name appears to be Jono Adgemis.
Mallyon said: Hi Jono. Thanks for your message unfortunately I’m unwell today and didn’t attend today’s meeting at Lismore. Perhaps next time you should double check who’s riding the horse before you invest.
Mallyon’s other tweet was to Priscilla Looker, wife of jockey Ben Looker.
“Can you let Ben know Jono isn’t happy and wants his $5 each way back.”
You see, Jono abused Mallyon for riding Jet Austin into the ground.
Trouble was, Mallyon didn’t even ride the horse. Ben Looker did.
Jono responded with a well thought out: “Go f… yourself. It was a pathetic ride. There is a reason why you have relocated cause you are a terrible jockey anyway.”
Many, many trainers and jockeys found it an hilarious exchange and sent messages of their own to Mallyon..
Shortly afterwards, Jono’s account was no longer there.
Say no more.
Mallyon 1 – Jono 0.
