Purple Smile has taken out the 2016 Adelaide Cup in an upset result at $16 from Tunes who jumped at $51 and short priced race favourite Real Love ($2.35) in third.
The race gave Stephen Baster a consolation win after he lost the G1 Australian Cup on protest.
