Golden Slipper Day at Rosehill Gardens is one of the highlights of the annual Sydney sporting calendar, and 2013 is looking more exciting than ever. Getting in and out of the racecourse can prove frustrating however, with lots of traffic on the roads and limited parking options. Every year, more and more people make the decision to leave their car at home and attend this amazing event via public transport, with better options available each season.
Gates open at 10.00AM on Saturday the 6th of April, 2013, with the first race run at 11.55AM and the last race at 5.30PM.
Rosehill Station is the closest train station to the racecourse, with a shuttle service in operation on the day between Clyde Station and Rosehill Station every 20 minutes. There are also additional trains running from Central to Rosehill at 10.58am,11.28am and 12.28pm; and from Rosehill to Central at 4.45pm, 5.15pm and 5.45pm. Whether coming or going, theses services will stop at Clyde, Auburn, Lidcombe, Strathfield, Burwood, Redfern and Central.
The Sydney Metropolitan buses are keeping to their regular schedule, however there is an additional complimentary shuttle service running from Parramatta Station to Parramatta Wharf and Rosehill Gardens Racecourse. This service will depart from Argyle Street at Parramatta Station to meet with ferry services running between 10am and 1.30pm.
An additional complimentary return shuttle bus service is also in operation on the day, from Everton Road Shed “D” at Strathfield Station to Rosehill Gardens Racecourse every 30 minutes from 10am to 1.30pm. The return shuttle service to Strathfield Station departs every 30 minutes between 3.30pm and 7pm from Unwin Street turnstiles.
Normal ferry services will be operating on Golden Slipper Day, with the regular weekend timetable in operation. However, the complimentary shuttle bus service mentioned above will be operational, departing Parramatta Wharf every 30 minutes between 10.35am and 1.35pm.
Due to the low tides in the upper Parramatta River in the early evening of April 6, some ferry services will be replaced by buses between Parramatta and Rydalmere. Because of this, people are advised that their regular travel time may be longer.
