Peter Snowden will look at other Group One options for Golden Slipper winner Capitalist after scratching the colt from the Manikato Stakes because of the soft track.
Rain fell in Melbourne on Friday afternoon and into the evening which forced a downgrade in the Moonee Valley surface from the good range to a Soft (5).
After walking the track more than once, Snowden decided the surface wasn’t suitable for the Group One-winning colt who is at his best on dry ground.
Capitalist opened as the $5.50 second favourite before drifting out to $8.00 due to the weather.
Capitalist will now head to the Coolmore Stud Stakes or the Darley Classic.
