Equine personality ‘Banjo’ has passed away at age of 25 due to Colic. Banjo along with John Letts led 22 Melbourne Cup winners since he first got the gig in 1993.
Banjo at the time was a five year old stock horse formally known as Trewarrick Impulse but was renamed after his horse master John Patterson due to Lettsy unable to say the name easily.
Most racing fans will remember Banjo as the horse Lettsy would be riding when he interviewed the winning Melbourne Cup jockey post race.
