A strong field has been assembled for the Wyong Cup (2100m) this Friday where the market says it’ll be an ultra competitive race.
Down below is a speed map, runner preview and $100 betting strategy for the 2025 Wyong Cup.
2025 Wyong Cup Runner Preview:
1. Alalcance: Alalcance is an interesting runner. GaiBott trained stayer that resumes after an Autumn prep which was quite fruitful but ended with a tiring down the track run in the Sydney Cup. Trials have been so so, so watch betting, but she has class.
2. Cleveland: SCR
3. Nelie Leylax: Lapped up the heavy track in the Premiers Cup when a dominant on speed winner. Race fit, will sit outside Alalcance…can win, but does seem a bit on the short side in betting.
4. Saltcoats: Back on firmer footing, I want to give Saltcoats another chance. To the eye, he was poor in the Premiers Cup but I just think he didn’t handle the wet track as opposed to the Kenso the week before. Dry track here, J Mac on, the intent is there to say he’ll bounce back.
5. Glory Daze: Glory Daze comes through the Premiers Cup Prelude on the Kenso when on speed throughout and he tried hard but was clearly no match late in the piece for impressive winner Saltcoats. Like him back up in trip, good racing style, he’ll take running down.
6. Age Of Sail: Was good late fresh in the Cup Prelude when a closing third. But, I do think similar to Cleveland, he has eyes on the Newcastle Cup.
7. Salt Lake City: Sat near the speed in the Premiers Cup Prelude last start and was comfortably held late by Saltcoats. Can’t see him turning the tables.
8. Travolta: SCR
9. Hutchence: SCR
10. In Summer: SCR
11. Indifference: Flying, spanked them in the Narromine Cup last start, but needs it much easier.
12. Blazing Rebel: Ambulance is a good chance of beating him home.

Alalcance, despite being first up, should get complete front end control. Nellie Leylax should lob outside and from there, I think they control the speed. Cleveland and Saltcoats should be the second pair in behind, though Glory Daze could kick up from the inside gate.
